![]() If you really think about it, there’s a big difference between Black Friday and Giving Tuesday. Black Friday is known for greed and spending more money than we can afford. Giving Tuesday is about giving back. I’m a big Black Friday shopper so I can save money for our family’s and friends’ gifts. But, Black Friday can be turned around! Spend some money on an item for a charity. Many have lists of items needed. Of course around this time of year, Toys for Tots comes to mind. What is Giving TuesdayGiving Tuesday is held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, December 3rd. People from all over the United States people feel a sense of togetherness as we give our money or our time to the nonprofit of your choice. Some groups gather in real life. Others online via Twitter and Google Hangouts. The end of the year is often a time when we make donations. Maybe it’s because of the holiday spirit or tax purposes. Giving Tuesday helps us to get started on being charitable. It’s kind of like a place marker on the calendar. There will be lots of opportunities to donate as nonprofits are partnering with Giving Tuesday. Last year, over 100,000 people took part and over a million dollars were raised.
